"When visiting in Port Sydney with my cousins this past summer, Karen and Terry graciously showed us the area sights. This maple tree on the banks of the Indian River was a favorite and scenic stop. Its branches, bent and twisted by the wind, told a story of a long life of braving the forces of nature, swaying in the wind, reaching up towards the sky and then bending down towards the cool water. The words of an old Tanya Tucker song came to mind - reminding me of the importance of being 'flexible' - because if you are rigid and unbending in life, you will soon be broken."
